VIDEOS - THE LONG GOODBYE

Wednesday, March 6th. 2024.

"The Long Goodbye."

Invited by DES Construction manager John Revell, myself, Alan Brace, Sid Walter and Arthur Weston were given a last tour of the remains of our workplace prior to it being pulled down.

After 30 years lying derelict and being an empty shell we had to think back over 50 years when identifying the various departments. Never-the-less, it all went to plan and brought back many memories, at least two generations ago, of our times employed there.

So here goes! I do not expect these short-ish videos to impress younger visitors but for those who worked there perhaps it will bring to a close those chapters of our lives and, hopefully, bring about something new, better and of real benefit to the town of Torrington and the surrounding area.

Us old workmates wish you well!

Chapter 1: A Brief Introduction. (includes Title & Credits)

Chapter 2: Discussion with John Revell.

Chapter 3 - Cold Stores, Tunnel, Butter Room and Roadway support wall

Chapter 4 - Toilets and Tunnels (well, almost!)

Chapter 5 - Roller Room & Scott Spray

Chapter 6 - Excavations & back towards Cream Vat Room

(Chapter 7 has been omitted.)

Chapter 8 - Stairs to Nowhere & Lowerator Floor

Chapter 9 - Cream Vat Room & Old Separator Floor

Chapter 10 - Moving upstairs to the Condensery

That winds it up folks!
