John Revell - Farewell

2024.

Monday 23rd. September was our final visit to meet John Revell on the the old dairy site.
He leaves for a new project in a few days.

Without his generous and amiable co-operation the four Blogg-ateers would not have had the privileged access, on several occasions, to both tour and discuss aspects of the old dairy and to help John whenever possible with remembered details of the 'site.

This was really Arthur Westons knowledge base as it is he who knew the layout better than anyone and who first made contact with John.

Thanks for all the coffees too, John!

What we discovered is that we all come from backgrounds where you learned to work with and to respect others as a team. The lack of industries which support such employment has not, we considered, helped the community spirit. Progress seems often to be one step forward and three back.

So who is John Revell? I can say that he has a background in mining and twenty odd years in construction and demolition. More than that I cannot tell you or he might have to kill you - and me!

He tells us that he and some pals have taken the lease on a working men's club in the area where they live and propose to run it for the benefit of those who live in his hometown in Nottinghamshire.

We are sorry to see him go and wish him every success in the future.

The Tunnel behind the Dock

John wanted us to investigate the tunnel behind what was the churn dock before it is covered.

Torridge Vale site - the future.

We understand that there is to be about another 6 weeks during which time the dairy site will be further cleared in suitable preparation for it's future use.

We await with baited breath - well, hopefully!
