Thanks to Bloggateer Arthur Weston for his latest update.
Cheers Arth.!
The demolition company are working their socks off!

The open building would have been the boiler house
with, I think, 4 oil fired Ruston Bucyrus units.

The iconic bridge.
It will be the very end when that comes down.
Echo's of so many footsteps, starting and ending the shift.

Sid Walter and I paid the site a visit this morning. Good job we did
or we might have missed it all. As it was, the bridge has gone which I was hoping the Bloggateers might get to have our photo taken but it was not to be.
We took the opportunity to visit Derek Skinner and were pleased we did.
He tells us he took many photos of each department before they were all emptied after the closing auction.

If he is able to look them out I will be very pleased to make a page for him and his photos.

All these below are from my camera. Hopefully I will have some B&W images when my film is developed.

A gloomy day.
Sid's expression sums it up.

  1. It's good to see the progress but, for myself and others, sad to see what gave so many a good livelihood come to nothing in the end.
